From No Experience to Award-Winning Travel Advisor
If you’d told me back in 2021 that I’d be working full-time from home, selling holidays for a living, and loving every minute of it—I probably would’ve laughed. At the time, I had zero travel experience, had never even been on a flight, and hadn’t ever pictured myself working in the travel industry. But life has a funny way of throwing unexpected (and amazing) opportunities your way.
It all started when I was contacted by a recruitment agent about a remote travel advisor role with Jet2Holidays. The hours were great, the pay was even better compared to what I’d earned before, and despite having no background in travel, I felt like I had nothing to lose. So I took the leap—completely out of my comfort zone and with no physical support, as everything was done online.
It didn’t take long for me to find my feet. I realised pretty quickly that I had a genuine passion for selling holidays. I found so much joy in helping someone go from “I don’t know where to go” to getting excited about their dream trip that ticked all the boxes. It was more than just a sale—it was about creating something special for people.
Early on, I discovered I had a natural way of connecting with customers and selling in a way that just felt… effortless. What surprised me most was that it never really felt like work. I loved it. And as the months went on, I consistently hit high conversion rates and brought in some serious revenue for the company.
Fast forward to December 2024—Jet2Holidays held our annual “Night With The Stars” event, a night where the whole company comes together to celebrate standout performances. I was completely overwhelmed (in the best way) to be announced the winner of the Sales Excellence Award—meaning I had the highest revenue and most bookings in the entire company.
To say I was proud would be an understatement. What made it even more emotional was that I had lost my dad earlier that year. I’d taken some time off and only returned on part-time hours, so all of that was achieved in just seven months—not the full twelve.
Since winning the award, I’ve stayed on as a travel agent, but I’ve also started something new. I realised that the skills I’ve developed—knowing what people want, how they book, and what grabs their attention—could be used in a totally different way. That’s why I’m now using that experience to help hotels and resorts boost their bookings through social media. I take the stress of managing social platforms off their shoulders while creating content that speaks directly to the people looking to book.
I’m so excited about this next chapter because I know what works. I’ve been on the other end of those calls, I’ve spoken to the customers, and I understand what they’re looking for before they even hit that ‘book now’ button.
So, whether you’re a hotel or resort looking to level up your social presence—or you’re just curious to see where this journey takes me—follow along on my socials. The best is yet to come!
